What does this knob do?

Knowledge you acquired with your hands feels like yours in a way a preset browser never can. Maybe that's why our synthesizers have so few presets - we tend to think they're the least interesting thing a synthesizer can do.

We try to build instruments with personalities, for people who want to be curious rather than efficient - machines that reward affection, resist mastery just enough to make mastery worth having, and remind you of that first time you asked - what does this knob do? And then made something that sounded like a rubber chicken being fed into a bandsaw.

The fifty-six unlabeled knobs on Weird Honker Two make the panel a terrain instead of a control surface: you navigate by ear, you build a private map nobody handed you, and every sound you get is one you authored rather than recalled. That's the reward. That's why we built it. That, and to torture you.

And the six oscillators and six filters in Realgar Red aren't just a spec boast. They're abundance as an invitation - a promise you will never finish exploring it.
